Banking recruitment asks for four separate images, each with its own dimensions:

These are the sizes we currently list and they are not verified against a notification — confirm yours. Each is a genuinely different size, so you cannot resize one and reuse it for another.
The photograph and signature are familiar. The other two are not.
Left thumb impression
The left thumb specifically. Notifications say so, and a right thumb impression is grounds for rejection.
If you have no left thumb, use the right and note it in the application where there is provision to do so.
Making one:
- Use a blue or black stamp pad, not a ballpoint pen and not a marker.
- Press the thumb onto the pad, then roll it slightly on plain white paper — a straight press-and-lift gives a flat, partial print.
- Do not press so hard the ridges fill in and blur into a solid blob. The ridge pattern must be visible.
- Let it dry before photographing, or you will smudge it.
- Make several. The first is rarely the best.
Photograph it the same way as a signature: flat surface, good light, phone directly above and parallel to the paper, no flash.
The output is square — 240 x 240 — so frame it centred with a little margin. Turn on background clean-up to take the grey of the photographed paper to white.
Handwritten declaration
A short paragraph you copy out by hand, photograph and upload. It is the strictest of the four.
The rules, which are stated explicitly:
- Written by the candidate only, in their own hand
- In English, regardless of the language of the rest of the application
- In running handwriting, not block capitals
- On plain white paper, in black or blue ink
Capitals are the most common failure. The declaration is a handwriting sample as much as a statement, and block capitals defeat that.
The text is printed in the notification for that recruitment cycle and changes year to year. Copy it from the notification you are applying under — not from last year's, and not from a coaching site. It usually states that the information given is true and that the photograph and signature are your own.
Producing it:
- Write it out on unruled white paper, in your normal handwriting, at a comfortable size.
- Keep the lines reasonably tight. The upload is 800 x 400 pixels — a wide, short rectangle — so a declaration written tall and narrow will crop badly.
- Photograph from directly above, filling the frame.
- Resize to 800 x 400 with background clean-up on.
At 800 x 400 the text has to remain legible. If yours is very long, write slightly smaller and keep the lines close, rather than letting it run over many lines that then squash vertically into the frame.
Doing all four in one sitting
Prepare all four physical items first — the printed photograph, the signature, the thumb impression and the declaration — then photograph them one after another in the same light.
